Brief History :
The band GRAPHIC NATURE was formed in 1990 in Green Bay, Wisconsin between vocalist Bryn Phillips and keyboardist/composer Grant Colburn. The original vision of the band was to use the hypnotic riffs of Zeppelin era rock and blues and combine it with the extended rhythms and harmonies of 20th century classical music, Crimsoid chromaticism and Floydian psychedelia.
Going through different personel in its earliest state, Bryn and Grant were soon joined by drummer Dennis Gandt, who was new to original music let alone music with progressive roots. Next to join the ranks was Christopher Dame already known in the Wisconsin area as one of the most talked about guitarists.
This core group with an earlier bass player recorded their debut cassette "GRAPHIC NATURE" in 1991. This release came as a shock to the system of the listeners of the Green Bay area who were lost in a time warp of early 80's punk and sappy cover-clone bands. The songs ranged in style from psuedo straight ahead Zeppish rockers to the psychedelia of the song "ICE" and the Crimsonesque "Rejoice, This Is Love", soon to become a live favorite to GRAPHIC NATURE'S ever increasing body of devoted fans.
Soon the anticipated day arrived when the band would be destined to return to the studio to assemble the songs that would become GRAPHIC NATURE's second self-titled release (imaginative music doesn't always imply imaginative titles!). Unknown to the group this disk would test the patience and drive of the band. A number of difficulties arose to try to derail the project. First was the necessity to find a new bass player, not the easiest to resolve in an unprogressive town like Green Bay. The job was soon offered to bassist Pat Hibbard who had been known for years as a powerfully rock solid player in the area and had played in other bands who shared the bill with GRAPHIC NATURE.
