Elegant SimplicityDescription : Melodic Progressive Rock Brief History : Elegant Simplicity was formed in 1991 by Steven McCabe, with the sole intention of producing music that was epic, melodic and memorable. Between 1992 and 1995, we released 7 albums of instrumental material. After successfully locating a vocalist in the shape of Ken Senior (of the UK band Evolution), the groups next release was the epic 78 minute CD THE NATURE OF CHANGE, featuring the highly acclaimed 43 minute title track. Like the previous albums, this was released on our own PROXIMITY label. This was followed in 1997 by the phenomenally successful REVERSAL OF TIME. Throughout this period, the bands reputation as purveyors of some of the finest music to come out of the UK was cemented by the early 1998 release of the daring and adventurous PURITY AND DESPAIR. Featuring a lavish full colour booklet and limited edition picture disc, this album (fusing progressive rock, folk, jazz and classical themes into one unique whole) cultivated fantastic reviews and continues to sell in significant numbers. We have also developed a fine website (PROXIMITY) which contains a full biography, discography, Streaming Real Audio, competitions, a full reviews archive and a comprehensive Progressive Resources page. We are a totally independent band and are rightfully proud of our achievements. All our CD releases are available directly from the Proximity web site or through your favourite outlet. If any label/distributor/retailer - or anyone else! - feels they can help us achieve our goal of an even wider audience, please get in touch! Our current project is the release of 2 albums in 1999: an instrumental CD (already recorded!) and a vocal-based album. If you like the music of Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Camel, Caravan, Barclay James Harvest, Pendragon, Spock's Beard, Alan Parsons Project, I.Q etc, then you'll love Elegant Simplicity!
