Description : Heavy Power groove thrash metal
Brief History : Chaos Theory was formed in June of 1995 by three friends with a love for making music. After numerous attempts in many bands the three decided to combine their talents, forget all the musical trends, and play their own style of heavy power groove thrash metal. The critics all say that heavy metal is dead but Chaos Theory is striving to prove them wrong. Come and listen to the heavy guitar sound of Ernie Albanesius, the melodically evil and harsh vocals, and bombastic bass sound of Dan Altobelli, as well as the ballistic double bass pounding of Brian Schleper and you will agree that heavy metal is back and here to stay, and the sonic assault of Chaos Theory is paving the way. While still drawing on their influences, Chaos Theory has created their own unique sound. Whether it's Slayer, Iron Maiden or Fear Factory, each member of Chaos Theory brings with them his own story and his own sound. When combined, the raw and intense music created is some of the best original local heavy metal in the area. In a time when metal music is feeling the effects of low record sales, having some of its major bands selling out to the almighty dollar, or watching the "all sound a-like" Alternative music scene dominate the radio and clubs, Chaos Theory promises you something different. Dan and Ernie grew up together in Trenton, New Jersey and had played together in bands throughout high school. In late 1990 Dan and Ernie crossed the great divide and traveled down route 130 to the small township of Florence where they met Brian through a friend. In 1993 Ernie moved to Colorado and Dan joined a band with Brian and a few other friends. After the Christmas season of 1993 that band collapsed and Dan and Brian were both left to roam from band to band never finding exactly what they were looking for. In early 1995, Ernie returned to New Jersey and began to toy with the notion of putting a band back together. Through a friend's tip, he learned that Brian was still searching and was extremely interested in what he had planned. With only the voice missing, the choice of Dan was an easy one. On a late June day in 1995 in the basenent of Ernie's father's house Chaos Theory was born. Since then they have built an original song repertoire which presently includes over sixteen songs, and the number is always growing. The band has played in numerous bars and clubs in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and The New York area. The bands first CD titled Scarred for Life was recorded in September of 1996 and contains six songs. The CD is was released in March of 1997 and is available now through many record and CD stores in the Philadelphia and New Jersey area. The band is also distributed through local distribution companies in the US as well as the UK. The demo has received good reviews in the local music papers as well as different Zines and magazines throughout the world. They can also be heard some Sunday nights at 10pm on 94 WYSP's Loud and Local show. The first single off the CD Karate Chop has received good airplay on WYSP as well as some local college radio stations in the area, such as WSOU (Seton Hall)and WMCC (Mercer County). The CD has also been played by other local Philly music shows such as Al Thompson's FM Audition on WRDV in Warminster, and WPLY's Y-Not show on 100.3 FM. The Band is also a member of the IDN (Independent Distribution Network) that helps out unsigned and struggling artists all over the nation. The IDN distributes product through it's representatives as well as booking shows and other events with regional acts. It also helps musicians with legal problems and offers training classes for educational purposes. The band has secured national distribution for their CD through the company know as "THE MUZE", making it available to order through any store having the system. The band's website has extensive information on the band, as well as show dates, and info on how to obtain a copy of their CD, whether it's through the mail or from their secure credit card system. The band has recently appeared on compilation albums from Vile Records, Al Thompson with WRDV, and Overlord Productions. The band got their first opening spot for a major act with Mayhem Recording artist Testament at The Trocadero in Philadelphia, Pa on September 11th 1997. On June 6th, 1997 the band did a song and interview on Comcast Cable for the TV show In Music Today. The show was broadcasted many times in the Philadelphia/NJ market and the band was asked back to do an "In Concert" show on March 14th 1998 for the channel as well. The band will be going into the studio in the Fall of 98' to record their next CD. The band is anxious to record some of their newer and heavier material. Each member of Chaos Theory puts all their heart and soul into not only every song but every thing they do as a band. The songs are more than music and words, but extensions of the members feelings. Drawing on personal experiences for song lyrics the band intends to stay in touch with the harsh realities of life. Chaos Theory wants to be the future of heavy metal, not a memory of the glory days.
