Soon, they create
a great musical cohesion, but not only, and thanks to the inspiration
of all the guys they begin to compose many songs. These songs are
very various, but always with a great mood inside, which characterizes
their music. To underline the feeling of the songs the lyrics always
try to explore the most hidden questions of mankind, as hate, love,
suffering, God... The tape (remastered for CD) represents a great improvement both in the quality of recording and in composition: these two factors show a new attitude certainly more atmospheric and dark-oriented. The famous italian magazine "Metal Shock" writes: "Grandeur and suffering; these sensations I kept from the first listening of Black Twilight demo. A melancholy sound, but at the same time so deeply heavy, characterizes the music of this quartet gifted of a very refined artistic inspiration." (Metal Shock, n.242). At this point
Black Twilight, for many reasons, begin to limit their live performances,
trying to improve themselves again, both in the composition and
in the sound impact. Now (September '98) new and rearranged songs
are being recorded for the imminent first auto-produced CD Master
of Black Twilight, "The Solitude of Being". |

BLACK STEEL were formed in early 2000 in the city of Perth in Western Australia. Comprising members from a pedigree of some of WA's most respected bands - Dave Harrison (ex-ALLEGIANCE), Damien Petrilli (SYZYGY) Jamie Page (ex-TRILOGY/BLACK ALICE). BLACK STEEL are purveyors of traditional/power heavy metal music with an emphasis on high calibre musicianship, strong melody, double kick drumming, soaring vocals, big choruses and dual guitar soloing. Members of BLACK STEEL have toured & played with many of the genres biggest names in previous outfits in their home country. Dave has toured with the likes of PANTERA, SLAYER, ROB HALFORD, MACHINE HEAD, ANTHRAX, SEPULTURA etc.. Jamie has worked & recorded with musicians such as the late COZY POWELL (Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, Rainbow, Malmsteen etc) & has writing credits for Queen guitarist BRIAN MAY, movie soundtracks & gigs with 80's NWOBHM era musicians Dennis Wilcox (IRON MAIDEN original vocalist) & members of 80's cult metal act ANGEL WITCH.
Their first BLACK STEEL recorded effort was the 'BATTLE CALL' EP. Which was recorded in 2 days at Survival Studios. Drummer Damien Petrilli (who also plays in melodic instrumental progressive act SYZYGY) had amazingly only rehearsed with the band twice prior to the recording session. Originally planned as a demo - the band were happy enough with the result and so decided to release it & in just a few month started to create a buzz throughout the metal underground with positive reviews in many metal 'zines & major magazines including biggies like Heavy Order Was & Terrorizer. The four tracks on the disc were the first written songs by BLACK STEEL and received airplay on local and national Metal shows throughout Australia. The first pressing of the 'Battle Call' disc sold out in a few short weeks. So far in the band's short existence, BLACK STEEL have topped a number of independent record store charts and have received positive press for their live performances including the prestigious opening spot on DEEP PURPLE'S 2001 Australian tour. In their home town of Perth BLACK STEEL are now one of the high profile top drawing live original acts.
BLACK STEEL released a full length album 'Destructor' in November 2001 . The 10 track album will be a continuation of the melodic metal style developed on their Battle Call EP with a range of diversity which will include big chorus anthemic metal hymns, mid paced rockers to fast double kick screaming heavy metal tracks in the classic tradition of prime era Judas Priest, Iron Maiden & Accept. Drawing from a wide range of influences & a wealth of experience, attention to detail will be the upmost priority in the production & songwriting process. The desired goal - to create a world class product that can stand equally & rise above the many contemporary power metal releases in todays market. Rather than being another band jumping on the bandwagon of the current resurgence in popularity of all things true metal, BLACK STEEL have a background history that clearly indicates that they are the 'real deal' & play this style of metal with a great deal of conviction & passion . The BLACK STEEL strategy is to forge the path, create awareness & wave the flag for Australian Heavy Metal Music throughout the world..
