Right now settle down now boys and girls I want to tell you a story. Way back at the beginning of time, well the end of the 70's to be precise, in a run down hut in Seattle, two american kids by the name of David Wayne and Kirk Van Der Hoff used to hold wild parties, you know the type I mean, plenty of booze, a smoke or two and of course lots and lots of loud heavy metal music. This used to happen on such a regular basis that their run down old hut was soon christened the metal church and as Wayne and Van Der Hoff were playing in a band along with Craig Wells (guitar), Duke Erichson (bass) and Kirk Arrington (drums), they soon adopted the name and out of all this a legend was born. Metal Church went on to influence every band you can think of from Iron Maiden to Metallica and beyond, and if you don't own at least one Metal Church album you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself. Sadly as a band Metal Church no longer exist but their spirit lives on in David Wayne's new project, Wayne, along with ex-Metal Church guitarist, Chris Wells, Wayne the band show exactly how ass kicking metal should be played. Songs like the opener "The Choice", the catchy "The Hammer Will Fall" and "DSD" are immense songs in the tradition of the old classics, while Wayne's distinctive vocals are better than ever and with the help of some excellent production manages to combine the spirit of the past with todays metal sound. With his old band Metal Church, David Wayne left an incredible mark on the metal scene, whether his new band will have the same impact only time will tell, but for now here's one old Metal Church fan whose very glad David Wayne is back in business.
