Warped Tour 2001 - "Compilation" Various Artists |
|
The latest in the madcap misadventures known as the Warped Tour, sponsored of course by Vans, the super smooth, super comfortable slipper shoe that've satisfied many a docksider and skate punk for more years than many of the participants probably care to remember. Warped, indeed, has served as annual forum for countless youthful upstarts, to tout their underground wares as well as the alter-ego for the many Alternative acts bent on keeping their "cool." This comp features an assortment of 26 flavors of full bodied Punk, heavy Alt-Rock, and the many go-betweens that've made a career out of genre-slicing and near miss radio hits. Representing the countless crop of labels who've caught the wave of resurgence in recent years, many old favorites appear for the umpteenth time, there from the beginning, still surviving the day and showing the new blood how it gets done-and it ain't taking the newbies very long to catch the vibe. The likes of Rancid, The Bouncing Souls, Anti-Flag, Madcap, AFI, H20… a long list of short tunes and quick jabs designed to settle the cobwebs floating around your skull as you float high above the crowd in your immediately wandering minds eye, you listen, learn and reach for the back rub! Boasting as well some of the bigger name and soon to be contenders, Side One's roster is represented by the likes of Madcap, Swingin' Utters and one that made great strides as a debut act from last year, Flogging Molly firing up their unique brand of Punk flavored Celtic Folk ditties. Additionally, look for appearances by Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Ataris and No Use For A Name, furthering an already all-star roster of fun and sun jet surf jumpers makin' the most of their day in the sun. To make this even better, nearly every song featured is unreleased or rare, so expect not the atypical album track rehash where you got one hand in the air, the other resting on the skip button… They definitely spiced things up this go round and you can't argue with the results… tune in, turn on, and support your local deviates while welcoming some o' that warped, warm, fuzzy feeling into that no fly zone brain of yours.
