Millennium Ride

Vermin

My first thoughts as the opening chops to "Hungerface" blurted out was that THIS is the record that Entombed should have done instead of "Same Difference!"

Are they still like "this" with the devil, by the way?

That said, I haven't even heard a note from that ill-advised direction change but judging by the less than stellar reaction by their fans, this is more of what an Entombed album should sound like!

Vermin, not surprisingly, has not only that classic underground doom-ridden charm but shares the same background of the mighty Swedish sludge-rockers. B-movie Zombie-esque horror clips saunter in and out right from the opening "monsters able tp pull even man-made spaceships from their orbits" and intersperse to lend further to this grim appeal… and sorry Barbara, they are coming for you!

"Everlasting" has an interesting groove going for it as does "Black"-"Devil Rhythm" I believe they call it-two back to backers that'll sharpen your soul as it gets ready to depart downward on "Deviltrip."

Vermin has a bit of a history to speak of even though this may be the first exposure for many listeners… and not a bad thing for those of the thick-skinned variety who aren't easily disturbed.

Thematically recalling nostalgic b-movie features… black and white images set to satanically structured monster-riffing and blood curdling screams, Vermin's latest is a not so welcome invitation for a "Millennium Ride" to Hell!
