Thine are a band from the UK (West Yorkshire to be precise),and they play a very destructive brand of Gothic metal, infact lovers of bands such as Paradise Lost, Type O Negative and the Sisters Of Mercy should have no trouble in welcoming Thine into their lives.

With guest appearances by Kay Field on vocals and Keith Appleton on Keyboards some of you may well fell a case of Deja Vu. But Thine are a first class band and A Town Like This is an album full of high points,

In truth, you really have to listen to A Town Like This a few times, just to appreciate what's going on. From the opening track 'This Town' which is quite sinister to the last few power chords of 'Sonic Showmen'.

Thine stamp their unique sound on every track. OK, two of the tracks have already seen the light of day as demos, 'Feathers & Roses' and 'Re-animate The Masque', but have made the transformation to full blown album tracks very well.

It is infact, 'Feathers & Roses' that provides one of the high points on the album with it's rather haunting intro, lovely string arrangements to the drum/guitar sound similar in a way to The Sisters Of Mercy and show Thine at their most creative.

I simply love 'Here Tonight' and 'Sonic Showmen', which is without doubt the heaviest track on this album, excellent guitar/drum work combining to produce a fitting frenzy to a fine album.
With quality musicianship and creativity of this standard, the future looks very bright indeed for the four Yorkshire lads. Released on Peaceville Records. 333 Latimer Road. London. W10 6RA
