Starting up in the beginning of '99 as a resistance to the whimpy music scene in their shitty hometown of Skärblacka, The Nifters quickly got things going. Consisting of members from local punk and rock bands, inspired by the Scandinavian rock scene and influenced by AC/DC and ZEKE, just adding some FU MANCHU, the band earned reputation as a great live act.

During the fall of '99 the first and only promo tape 'High Quality Punk Rock' was recorded which all over received great critic. In underground fanzines as well as the leading Swedish punk/hard rock magazine Close-Up they were compared to acts as ZEKE, THE HIVES, CELIBATE RIFLES and THE STOOGES.

This demo also resulted in a record deal with Scooch Pooch Records. While improving their live performance The Nifters have supported high class acts such as BIG ELF, PUFFBALL, THE TURPENTINES, HYMANS and THE ROBOTS.

Who ever said Punk Rock was dead was a complete and utter twat!

The Nifters prove to each and every one of us that it's not.

'Riding Shotgun' is a great little disc, and by little, what I mean is remember the days when albums had a standard 10 tracks and lasted about 30 minutes, well this is basically what you get here.

'Riding Shotgun' kicks off with a rip roaring roller coaster ride of a track called 'Random Ride' and there is absolutely no let up in the pace right throughout the disc.

Before you know it you're halfway through and wondering just exactly what you missed. So be prepared to hit that rewind button on your disc player quite often.

The standard Punk format is very evident here, some very out of tune vocals, but when did that ever matter. They seem very capable and competent musicians and please don't take anything away from them just because some of the vocals seem out of place.

Stand out track's on this disc - you're having a laugh!

You couldn't pick a track that stands out even if you wanted to, but for the purpose of this review I'd have to pick track 7 'Fucked Up'. It's all pretty much of a muchness with all of the tracks being the same pace and the same style.

Good stuff all in all, plenty of pogoing fun to be had by one and all and sure to liven up any party you may be throwing.
