One of the most talked about albums last year, the debut album by The Haunted, quite honestly what can you say that hasn't already been put down in print except that it's a stinking pile of crap, played by a bunch of musicians way past there sell buy date, with no relevance to the currant metal scene, whatsoever.

NO, it's not true, none of it!!!

Because if there was one album that was released last year that could unite all the different genres together it's this one, for a start you have the hard-core vocals of ex-Mary Beat Jane's, Peter Dolvins, the song writing skills of ex- Seance's Jensen and added to this ex-At The Gates Bjorler/Bjorler and Erlansson and you have a combination from the bowels of hell itself, delivering 12 tracks of no nonsense in your face metal, with classical riffs, great songs and a driving rhythm that the band manage to maintain throughout the entire album.

The immense speed and power of The Haunted is evident right from the opening number 'Hate Song', a no-holds barred number which comes across a bit like being hit in the balls with a 10 ton hammer and some how the band manage to keep this relentless pace on through songs like 'Chasm', 'Three Times', 'Shattered' and 'Soul Fracture', only pausing briefly on the closing number 'Forensick', which this time Dolving delivers his message via the spoken word giving the song a very atmospheric but very sinister feel.

OK, some might argue that metal is all things to all people and that's what makes it so unique. But really The Haunted's debut album release has so much going for it that no metal head worth his salt should be without this shining album, and all the praise that has already been showered on it is fully deserved.
