All This and Puppet Stew The Dickies |
|
The new Dickies' record was five years in the making… and what of it? Damned if I know, but it sounds like The Dickies… Hell it even looks and smells like The Dickies so to quell any potential fears about what if, what was or would've been, there ain't any cause for alarm. L.A.'s own age old brand of offbeat miscreants who've been known for delivering the joke as quickly as a mighty Punk anthem, raise the curtain on yet another decade in a career that won't give the fat lady even an inch of breathing space… Now known as the longest running Punk group once The Ramones called it a "gabba gabba hey" day, these guys have done some artful works in the past like "Killer Clowns From Outer Space" and "Dawn of the Dickies" and other assorted tales from behind smiles. Thirteen pointed tunes of lunacy, levity and all out brevity grace the stage this go round beginning with "See My Way," "Donut Man," and how's about "Howdy Doody in the Woodshed II" which I'd love to see the words to-and I can see old Buffalo Bob now, wrenched with anger, finger pointed and ready to hurl a bolt or two right down on their parade of parody… "All This and Puppet Stew" is a showcase in the fine art bizarre behavior that've been their calling card since way back in the beginning… of dangling a few loosely hung riffs over a colorfully painted backdrop, offbeat oratory and child-like musings with enough giddy choruses to go round!
