"Dead End Dream" The Cuffs |
|
Nice to see a bunch of black leathered long lock Punk rockers takin' it to the gutter with their "Dead End Dream" for a Dead Boys generation of misfit degenerates. And I mean we're going way, way back to the snotty sneer of ol' Mr. Rotten and that fist in flight anthemic outpour from the 'Rejects and Wattie and the gang and their nothing gets nothing narratives. So I'm wondering, any relation to The Cuffs? Subjectively The Riffs are on target to strike a dormant nerve within the annals of the traditionalist street-vibe with their retroactive lyrical protests on dead ends, disservice, and disenchanted youth. Led by half-empty observances, their "nowhere left" principles carry simple and schooled chording with strong hooks and fired up vocal melodies leading to "Just Another Night," "Nowhere To Go," the Oi-inspired "Kick Time Suicide," and potency of the self-titled closing track. Somebody say something about "no future?" They got the pride, power, principles, image and chops maybe twenty-two years too late but such is the wonderful thing about ol' school Punk, the name's all change but the issues remain the same. Skunk scented Rock n' Roll pessimism so why break from tradition! Released by TKO Records
