Not exactly the kind of girls you'd wanna bring home to mom. And good luck following along with the lyrics… I almost got a buzz trying to read the words in the booklet! Their history is brief but one for the annals of anarchistic lust nonetheless. The sound? A fiery double-shot of venom, spewed straight in the eye of satisfaction and sassy sissies currently calling themselves "extreme!" Subtleties and charm ain't what they're about and anyone familiar with another girl group-though these guys feature a male drummer whom by the end of the day you'll either worship for his talents or pity as the minority to the surrounding trio of tempestuousness! Their self-titled, wound inflicting debut tears will tear the roof off your home… the scalp off your head! Either way, after "The World Comes Tumblin'" or something like "L.A. Girl" or "Oldscratch" (whoa is damned right!) you'll have taken your share of lumps! Talk about a reinvention of Punk Rock, The Distillers take the boot to the best of the rest and plant it firmly on the ass of modern day wannabe's and whiners-the label-less elitists who think they'll last. They might sell more records but they'll never reach the respectability of what lies within the creation of this-pure firewater bubbling over in a pool of 100 proof psychosis! The Distillers are Wendy O' Williams and The Great Kat rolled into the same smoking vat… and at the end of the day, when you're lying on your back, floored, dazed and altogether ruined for life, you'll never look at sour mash the same way again-searing debut from one of the year's up and comers… queens of the obscene and then some!
