Terror Firmer

"Original Motion Picture Soundtrack"

Various Artists

For all you B-movie Horror flick fanatics, I give you the latest in underground-and I mean this quite literally-entertainment from those kings of the grim and grotesque, Troma Entertainment, who've brought such past hits as "Toxic Avenger" and "Surf Nazis Must Die" to the big screen much to the delight and disgust of throngs of deprived onlookers.

Not to "dis" either of the above you understand but you just need to have experienced 'em at least once…

And now, a soundtrack worthy of any and all things filthy and shameless, "Terror Firmer," an advance stereophonic version of the upcoming movie with a roster of cult faves doing their worst!

In fact, beneath the surface though this may be, many of these indie-label staples are well on their way to legendary status within the Death Rock and Punk music scenes.

Lunachicks, those four hot little numbers bore from the gutters and glam of NYC do the opening title track while Less Than Jake, (but more than Joe?) one of Epitaph's finest clock in at number two before yielding to Two Man Advantage, with sticks in hand, and blades afoot, doing the "crowd surfing" thing-can you imagine?

Ah yes, now we're getting somewhere. We could go down the list here and somebody's favorite is bound to pop up again and again-twenty three overall tracks from many of yesterday's and today's most beloved and reviled bands, doing hard to find and unreleased cuts for that extra appeal.

One of my favorites-actually we can climb that up to about six or seven in a row here but starting with Melvins, "The Horn Bearer," Anti-Flag and the amazing-and may we assume prophetic, "Someone's Gonna Die Tonight," with its killer chorus and even harsher recording level…

and of course there's Ensign, damage case from the Nitro label; All, appearing for the umpteenth time and labelmates NOFX doing "Stranger than Fishin'…" (uh, right) and here's a surprise…

although what splatter flick would be complete without a contribution from the almighty GWAR and the hit single "Fucking an Animal," from what was probably their worst record-but then again with GWAR, who the fuck can tell anyway!

Just joking about the "hit" part you understand, but is hilarious.

Tempted as I am to reel off the entire list, space and shock value prevent me from going much further.

But check out the Rocket From the Crypt tune, "Heads Are Gonna Roll" and for my money, there ain't no one that can groove like these guys-and Joan Jett & her Blackhearts couldn't have done better… or maybe they did!

The Candy SnatchersBouncing SoulsDown By Law's got a cool tune on here…

Entombed's appearance, something of a shock in itself, though welcome, tosses the last shovel full as the closer, and a shitty cover of that old dinner table classic "Amazing Grace," which is more joke than anything which actually fits well with an otherwise goofy theme-just remember to hide the silver for God's sake!

If blood and gore's your thing, and it must be if you've read this far, you'll undoubtedly wanna see the movie but you'll wanna pick this up for all this crusty and suddenly cadaverous talent they somehow managed to fit on this nice, tidy little packaged dementia!
