From the primarily progessive stable of Dominion Records come progressive metallers Tanelorn.
OK, so in places it did remind me of Metallica, especially The Master Of Puppets era, but the other side shows enough creativity that once again proves that this metal genre is alive and kicking.

Now this metal genre has always been blessed with quality musicians and Tanelorn are no exception and although this five track CD only lasts for 27 minutes, it provides Tanelorn ample time to show what they can do.

Infact every one of the songs on offer has something going for it. Now, I have already mentioned that The Other Side falls at the heavier end of the progressive scale with a very guitar orientated sound and this is very evident from the opening number 'Question Remains', which has a slower riff mixed with an excellent solo mid song, add to this a really powerful vocal which gives the song real atmosphere, which they manage to maintain throughout the remaining tracks.

Track two 'The Other Side' has a real haunting guitar (vocal intro with a fine solo by Andy Cicalese ), this song also shows the full extent of Joe Maniglia's vocals.

'Brain-Fed' is a real power house number with some excellent dual guitar work as in 'Bad Dreams'.

The final track 'Blue Front' really lets the band work out and show what they can do. Again 'Blue Front' is heavy as hell, where all the band put in fine performances.

Tanelorn give an excellent account for themselves with The Other Side and I'm sure we will be hearing a lot more from them very soon. The Other Side should have no trouble finding a place in your collection.
