Century Media, celebrating their tenth year of operation in America-who'd have thunk it way back when huh-and storming the new year in true metal fashion with arguably some of the finest new releases in some time. First on the list is the brand new one from Swedish melodic metal masters Tad Morose. A name that's been languishing on the European front for quite some time may finally get the accolades they deserve on this new one-a stunning example of top notch musical craftsmanship layered in soothing verses, hook-driven guitar work and bright choruses-think along the lines of early Queensryche for a musical reference, combined with the thematic dramatics of and gruff edge of Savatage, this is one foray into the other world worth exploring over and over again. The band's been missing in action for quite some time since their 1993 inception, sporadically appearing among several line up changes and thus finally "Undead" bringing home even more relevance than any out front fictionally-led lyrical discoveries would indicate. "Another Time Around," puts things in immediate perspective, before giving way to "Where the Sun Never Shines," an ode to their origins perhaps and then there's the title track which plods along eerily, marked by darkness and impending tragedy lay right around the next corridor… Tad Morose's "Undead" brings the best elements of '80s Metal-power, melody and fire-all with them, successfully out of the darkness, without rehashing the past or sounding like a parody of a generation long lost.
