N.Y. Thug Core: The Hardcore Years 1994-2000

Skarhead

Legends of the N.Y.H.C. street scene, Skarhead's put out some of the most bone-crushing, brain damaging music ever in existence and provided the housing for some of the most notable names in the underground community over the years.

"The Hardcore Years" brings together a mind-numbing collection of early demos, rare tracks, singles and live cuts-"Dogs of War," "Skarhead," "Game Over," all of anthemic quality, rage-assured and plenty o' meter-peaking loudness in a prime example of the meaning of pain.

Interspersed within the nineteen total tracks, Skarhead lays their foundation straight over the idea of compromise, contentment and commerciality, with a fistful of anger, and wry smile for all the pretenders who've come and gone, never made their mark, and gave into the pressure…

"Skarhead Love" for example is pure Punk aggression in the finest Misfits tradition while live cuts as "BQE," a pothole-riddled sing along fist pumper in the wondrous tradition of two of the more renowned N.Y. boroughs for which pride and power came to rise all those years before…

"Hardcore" is an all out minute and a half blitz that'll send 'em hurtling through the pit without even mouthing a word of encouragement.

Skarhead "takes care of business" and embodies the roots of all that's hard, willfully representing the sin, sleaze, courage and collective that's fostered the growth of the Hardcore movement and continues to recruit thugs of all ages, races and sizes who've ever had a chip on their shoulder and war inside their head…
