The Sun Goes Down (6:11) German band Sinner return with their ninth outing 'The Nature Of Evil', a collection of ten powerful heavy metal numbers, done the good old fashioned way. For 56 glorious minutes it's 1984 all over again. Frantic guitars, thumping rhythms and easy to pick up chorus's filling the air once more. Sinner certainly have stuck to their gun's over the years and good luck to them and when the music is this good who really cares? Sure theres elements of Priest/Maiden and a host of others for all to hear, but what suprised me most, was how vibrant and alive this style of metal still is. If you're still in any doubt about Sinner's origins, a quick blast of the opening number 'Devil's River' should clear your mind, wailing guitar solos, thumping rhythms, powerful vocals with just a hint of keyboards. A confident powerful opening sonh, which sets the trend for the whole of the album. 'A Question Of Honour' is my favourite on the album, has some great guitar work and a chorus that you'll be humming for weeks, I kid you not. The title track 'The Nature Of Evil' is a more melodic affair, but still contains some great fret work. While the instrumental 'Rising' with it's haunting keyboards gives the album real atmosphere. Oh, some of you may find 'Some Truth' a little close to Helloween (Keeper of The Seven Keys) for comfort and that 'Justice From Hell' is the best Priest number they never recorded, but to be honest, by the time I had played 'The Nature Of Evil' a few times, I didn't care.
