From the first time I ever heard that classic Blackmore riff, you know the one 'Smoke On The Water', I was hooked. I don't know what it was, but it lit a spark in me that over the years has grown into a bloody roaring flame that no one, but no one will ever be able to put out.

But classic metal or true metal as some would call it, is fast becoming a rare breed, with more and more bands are now opting for Hardcore, Death or Black Metal to put food on their plates.

Canadian four piece Sheavy play classic metal in a style that's best described as a cross between Guns'n Roses and Black Sabbath and with The Electric Sleep prove that this style of metal is still a force to be reconned with in todays market place.

In a world of doom and gloom, The Electric Sleep is a joy to the ears, 10 tracks, 53 mins of pure metal. Groove to the rhythm on the opening track that is Virtual Machine or why not drift away to the fine acoustic 'Velvet'. The title track 'The Electric Sleep' has some fine guitar work as does 'Born In A Daze' and while the vocal style does resemble that of one Mr. Osborne, Sheavy are a fine band in their own right and should make many friends along the way.

All the songs on offer are well written and dead easy to get along with. If I had to pick out my favourites out of the songs on offer, it would have to be the hard hitting ballad 'Savannah', the very sinister 'Oracle' and the opening number 'Virtual Machine' for reasons already stated.

The Electric Sleep proves beyond doubt that Rock in it's original form will never die and should find a home in any metal fans collection.
