Edge of Time

Sharon

Huh?

What's that they're saying… something in Japanese it sounds like… on the other end of… And then "Sweet Family" comes storming through the front door-a rude interruption while someone's talking on the phone!

What's so sweet about them anyway-and get a look at these lyrics!

And going deeper here into the content of this first song, I do believe they are the first to ever go in this direction-something to do with the whole overseas marriage thing-very interesting… Sharon, a relative newcomer out of Germany belts 'em out loud and proud on their newest "Edge of Time" release... and shows they're not without a conscience.

Not quite along the hard-line that many of their contemporaries are taking at the moment-but rather dependent more on melody, less on speed, and a solid deployment of heaviness nonetheless thanks mainly to a restless drummer whose simply not content to stick to those formulaic half beats that once defined the bawdy ballads of yesterday's generation of heavy metal heartbreakers.

Reminiscent of past melody-driven passion players like Bonfire, Angra or Jaded Heart, Sharon's not one of those that are going to creep up and take the world by storm… or will they?

"Lies" hits the speakers pretty hard as it makes its appearance as song three here and aside from a fairly slow and loose intro and verse, they slam the hammer down during the pre-chorus and chorus, again another fine example of tight backing.

Here's where things lighten up just a bit on "Can you Remember" which really nods back toward the mid-80's power ballad tradition, blended nicely between upscale keystrokes and booming percussion.

There's not a lot to really dive into here-think something like Giuffria with a slightly more aggressive delivery and modern flash.

"Edge of Time" is a tightly played and produced slice of the simple life… rock and roll excess that belies image for integrity, greed for growth… a burst of sunshine in the dark cloud of despair.
