are : Paul Romanko on Bass Philip Labonte on Vocals David Germain on Drums Matthew Bachand on Guitar/Vocals Jonathon Donais on Lead Guitar/Vocals The tracks are : 1. Revel In My Loss 2. Pure 3. Lead Me Home 4. To Ashes 5. Nurture 6. Fleshold 7. Eternal 8. Suffer The Season 9. Somber Angel 10. Lifeless The cover of this CD promises some fairly heavy U.S. death metal. Thanks to such bands as Cannibal Corpse and Doom Nation, etc on the sleeve notes give a hefty clue to what the content of this CD is going to be. 'Revel In My Loss' opens the album and is a well sculpted piece of death metal, it screams in all the right places and leaves you keen to hear more. 'Pure' is a more grandiose piece sounding at times like very early Iron Maiden before returning to a heavier guitar driven theme. 'To Ashes', has a really cool beginning and again has a touch of Iron Maiden in the backing vocals. When the band play softer musical parts, as in this track the band reveal themselves to be very competant musicians. This album 'Somber Eyes To The Sky' contains many contrasts, flowing from fast thrash to softer and more lyrical places. This is very evident in 'Fleshold' and 'Suffer The Season'. Some of the guitar work I can only describe as superb and I believe Shadows Fall have a serious future ahead of them. Released by Lifeless Records, P.O. …and when the shadows fall upon the unsuspecting earth below, only then will you fully realize armageddon has finally arrived. "Of One Blood" shatters the traditional image of heavy metal in an astonishing display of power and melody that will take the listener to places never yet conceived of. Combining the best in Euro-thrash, death and power metal with a sharp delivery, intimate sequences and vocal harmonies, Shadows Fall has effectively revolutionized the shape of heavy music for the year 2000. In a time where grind-core, rap and sampling have been the accepted means for expansion, Shadows Fall have created bold new parameters in taking this formidable form of music to new heights unseen-see "Crushing Belial," "Of One Blood," "Fleshold." With every note played, there is a broadening song structure that develops, establishes itself, then quickly moves on with sudden new bursts of intensity and imagination that leaves you awestruck! Imagine the best qualities brought about by the likes of At the Gates, Iced Earth, Arch Enemy and Blackstar and Shadows Fall embraces and eclipses all of them with one of the best releases of the year!
