Here's the Tribute

Never Mind the Sex Pistols

This is indeed a worthy tribute, but one should always mind the bollocks!

And there's plenty to go around amidst all seventeen of these Pistol classics performed as viciously as one would expect!

I had never personally looked upon The Sex Pistols as one of my all-time favorites. In fact I found some of the later cover versions of many of their hits-"Anarchy in the U.K." in particular absolutely deplorable!

But that can be attributed more to the bands that performed 'em than anything else, even though it still gets on my nerves after all this time.

After listening to this well-deserved, and probably long overdue tribute disc as provided by one of the as yet broken homes for the latest delivery of punk rockers, I will admit my tide has turned somewhat-yes, I now have a new found respect for The Sex Pistols-but I can't even explain why I didn't even in the first place.

The roster of artists that appears here is absolutely phenomenal. In spite of the title, if you want bollocks, you got 'em!

Many tried and true Radical Records artists over a generous helping of filth and fury-coincidental?-starting off with The Booked and "Holidays in the Sun," and after all these years, it still remains as significant as it did back then.

LES Stitches, a fast rising, fast talker from the depths of NY's own lower East side fires up the melody on a ripping version of "Bodies."

Now the ones that the casual fan will of course be looking for are here as expected-"God Save the Queen," and "Anarchy in the U.K." as performed by I.C.U. and Blanks 77 respectively, and respectfully!

Maybe that's the catch, have old punk songs performed by old punk bands!

It's incredible to think that The Sex Pistols had the impact they did after only one album and tour, but for only that brief moment in time during the late seventies, the music world would never be the same!

Aside from the obvious, some of the best work appears here from some great bands performing the "other" songs that rarely grab the headlines. "Seventeen" done by Total Chaos, "Sub Mission" by The Boils (which, as hard as it is to choose just one, this one's right there-awesome!), "Pretty Vacant" compliments of Ducky Boys and Billyclub doing "Satellite!"

Running through the list, you'll have heard of more than just a few of these hard-core/punk artists doing their thing on their own, but just in case, contact info is provided free of charge!

Now, after all these years, a piece of the "Great Rock & Roll Swindle" is properly bled from the past for today's fans to see and hear a legendary band, that, if only for a moment, rewrote rock and roll history.
