The one thing that never sieze's to amaze me about Progressive Metal bands and that is the sheer talent of musicianship and songwriting ability on show at all times. So why, oh why, arn't there more bands of this type, household names.

People from all around the world have heard of Whitesnake, Pantera, Greenday, etc, etc. But when it comes to Progmetal bands, it seems like their only big in their own country. Now why is this you may ask and if I had the answer I would tell you.

I could come up with several possibilities like poor promotion, poor publicity, lack of advertising, no radio coverage, no television coverage which I feel is a shame because there are a lot of good Progmetal bands that should be heard much much more.

And there's one thing all these bands have got in common and that is talent and most of them have bags of it and Seven Signs are no exception.

The one thing that stands out on the first listen of this CD and that is the vocal style of A the Vand his similarity to that of Goeff Tate (queensryche) which can't be more evident than on 'A Spiritual Sky', quite possibly the heaviest and most complete song on the album.

A the V's talent is again in evidence on the excellent ballad 'Find The Words'. But this is far more than a one man show. The guitar playing of both Paul Steen and Henk Koster are first class. Just listen and you will hear many styles from Malmsteen to Dream Theater all rolled into one.

The Bass playing of Peter Jansen is top draw stuff, just take a listen to 'Bassolica', if proof were needed.
And of course, no self respecting progmetal band would be complete without a drummer of some standing and Gerrie de Graaf fits the bill just nicely. Gerrie's claim to fame must be that he played in four bands at the same time.

Apart from the track already mentioned 'Time To Forgive', the title track 'Silence Of A Wish' and 'Bullet' all stand out.

Whatever your personal view of this style of music is, you can't escape the fact that Seven Signs are very talented.
For fans of Progmetal this is a must.
And to the unbelievers
GO ON TRY IT, YOU MIGHT JUST LIKE WHAT YOU HEAR!!!
Highly Recommended.
