Scott's influences are Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhoades, John Mclaughlin, Allan Holdsworth to name a few. The Hand Farm was formed 5 years ago and opened for such international recording artists as Bobby Caldwell and Maceo Parker (James Brown). Scott uses : Custom made Stratocaster guitar with inactive Bartolini pickups, ADA MP-1 MIDI tube preamp, Rocktron Intelliflex Multieffector, Peavey Special 200 Watt Transtube Combo, Peavey Bandit Transtube 100 Watt Combo. Kevin Woolsten - Bass Guitar. (tracks 1,5,7-9,11) Anthony DeSimone - Drums. Matt Cantwell - Bass. (tracks 2,3,4,6) The Tracks are 'The Great Unwashed', 'The Secret Linen Service', 'Pools', 'Death By D.M.V', '2000 Allen Called', 'Uncle Zippy', 'Luggage', 'Ignoramus Rex', 'Calvinist Pancakes', 'Labyrinth', 'Alaskan Brick'. The opening track is 'The Great Unwashed', which starts with quite a heavy guitar sound, but this is still jazz guitar track, but a powerful one. Straight away you can hear that Scott is a very talented guitarist and this track reminds me of other great guitarists like John McLaughlin, Allan Holdsworth, etc. Next is 'The Great Linen Service', is still quite a heavy track, but the guitar sounds are a lot more intricate. This track is more reminiscent of Chick Corea's work with Return To Forever. Track three is 'Pools', this track is more mellow than the preceding tracks and is much more in the vein of Colosseum II. Again the guitar work is quite intricate and in sections played at quite some speed. 'Death By D.M.V.', this is more of a jazz/rock guitar piece. Scott on this particular track plays a mixture of rock chords with jazz and rock lead sections, and it comes over very well indeed. Ther's some nice interplay with acoustic guitar and also there's a great bass solo in the middle. '2000 Allen Called',starts with a drum beat, followed by Scott playing some jazzy lines meandering around until there's a change in direction and Scott plays some heavy chords. the track then change's direction again to some extremely fast guitar playing from scott and the bass is meandering around in the background. then the track slows down just before the end. Next is 'Uncle Zippy', a great track that has lots of intricate jazz guitar sections. The guitar is again played at an extremely fast pace with some great bass being played in the background Track seven is 'Luggage', another track in which Scott plays a mixture of rock and jazz lead sections. Next is 'Ignoramus Rex', is quite mellow with some great bass running in the background. Scott plays aseries of chords followed by some stunning guitar work. 'Calvinist Pancakes', another quite mellow more jazz guitar influenced track with lots of fine intricate guitar. This track combines lots of different styles. this track emind me in parts of John McLaughlin (Mahavishnu Orchestra). Next is 'Labyrinth', a fairly quiet track and a little more subtle than the rest. Again the guitar playing is just stunning with superfast lead breaks, which are very intricate at times. And the last track is 'Alaskan Brick', a track that is more upbeat, more of a jazz/rock track with some quite powerful guitar lead section again played at lightning speed. This is an excellent CD, but it is a CD that needs to be listened to, to appreciate what is going on as this is a serious peice of music. As the music is quite complex it will probably take you several listens before you start to appreciate the music incorporated within.
