To be honest at first I wasn't truly convinced, but it's a bit like the first time you listen to Soul Asylum. There are so many different musical styles rolled into one, it gets a little confusing to the ears. But after a few more plays you begin to understand whats going on and thats exactly what you get with this Scarlet Theory album 'Circus Sized Peanuts'. Circus Sized Peanuts takes you on a wonderful multi-coloured musical ride through all of the seventeen tracks on this CD. It's almost impossible to say which track stands out more, as this is one of the most complete/together CD's in my opinion. Since the first listen of this CD, it has never been very far away from my CD player, but if I had to chose my favourite tracks, well 'Pop Song' starts the whole thing of very tongue in cheek. 'Lottery Song's' very appropiate, the slight country intro to 'I Can't Read Your Mind' and then there's the excellent ballad 'Rest Of Forever', which is night time mood music and on the other hand there's the higher gear tracks 'Fairy Dust', 'Tina's Pies', and 'Sad To Lose A Friend'. I will sum it up in Scarlet Theory's own Words from the opening lines of 'Pop Song' "come on, jump in", you wont be disappointed. Scarlet Theory are in the process of making a follow-up to this excellent CD. I wait with baited breath. Circus Sized Peanuts is released on Capsize Records. (their own label). 721 Palm Avenue.
