Good to Go7 Seconds |

Starting off like a house of fire… like we could expect anything less, "Good to Go" fairly unassuming front cover illustration's a bit misleading. Yeah we got the picture of the vintage car with this neatly perched little kid hanging off the back bumper, and I'll tell ya what, the little fuck better hold on for his life because battered and bruised is the least of what he'll end up with! 7 Seconds have laid the ground rules for other hard-core/punk groups to follow for years and their latest studio release is all the more reason to stay in their corner or get the hell out of the way. "Sooner or Later," opens the flood gates and bemoans the incessant conflict of opposing forces and the improbability of coming to terms… "Sour Grapes," gives it to everyone who forgot their own youth and spends their adult years criticizing and griping over what they either never could be or never had the guts to remain… Mind you we're getting this shoved down our throats at blinding speeds, but once we get moving, there's no means for letting up-so what exactly they mean with "Slow Down a Second" is anybody's guess-a touch of irony that speaks loud volumes of the necessity of self-reflection and self-examination. One of the differences I've found with this band is that they opt not for viewing the big picture for the colossal collapse it inevitably is but imagine having your own personal headshrink, built up on a hyper-active thyroid that gives 'em no rest whatsoever, and forget the couch, the motherfucker's hell-bent intentions are to present an analytical assimilation that by the time it's over, you're left wondering how this gaping void between your ears got there in the first place! We're about halfway through here and they haven't let up yet-at least give us 7 Seconds to catch our breath! Intense observance is the order of the day and they have "seen the flaws" and somehow they'll "work it out." "Good to Go," does it all over again, whizzing past the starting line of their latest race through this crazy life… Released by Side One Dummy Records: http://www.sideonedummy.com/ Review by Vinnie Apicella |
