Rudess Morgenstein Project
RUDESS MORGENSTEIN PROJECT

The Rudess Morgenstein Project is Jordan Rudess playing Keyboards and Rod Morgenstein playing Drums.

The tracks are : 'Don't Look Down', 'Sloth', 'Drop The Puck', 'Crossing Over', 'Never Again', 'Tailspin', 'Odd Man Out', 'Masada', 'Cartoon Parade', 'Over The Edge'.

The opening track is 'Don't Look Down', which is an excellent track that has a good rocking beat to it. As you would expect the drums and leyboards are superb, there aree nice changes in direction, mood and tempo. The keyboards on this track remind me a little of Keith Emerson.

Next is 'Sloth', an excellent track, the beats quite slow but the keyboards are terrific.

'Drop The Puck', the keyboards on this track to me have both Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman influences within. There is still a ot of Rudess own finesse there too and overall it is an excellent track.

Track four 'Crossing over', which is an excellent track has a great melody, some nice changes in direction. There's a great keyboard solo followed by a piano solo and then back to the main part of the track followed by more great keyboard solo's.

'Never Again', is a track that is full of emotion and although to me that emotion was a sad one, it is still a very good track.

'Tailspin', is another really good rocking song.

Track seven is 'Odd Man Out', which is an excellent inventive drum solo, Jordan does come in with the keys at a later stage but really only to emphasize the drums.

'Masada', starts with some spacey sounding keyboards before a piano comes in. Jordan comes back in with the keys and again this is another track with a lot of emotion.

Track nine is 'Cartoon Parade', great track with great drums and superb keyboards.

And the final track is 'Over The Edge', which is an excellent track with lots of changes in direction, mood and tempo.

The Rudess Morgenstein Project is an excellent album, and only came about as the result of an evening on the Dixie Dregs 1994 Full Circle tour in Fort Lauderdale, Florida when a suddden power failure shut down the guitar, bass and violin rigs, but the keyboards where left unaffected.
What followed was a spontaneous 10 minute drum/keyboard jam which inspired this project.
The result is a 10 track, 51 minute CD collaboration between these two excellent musicians.
On this CD you will find great melodies, great solo's and lots of emotion and these guys can really rock too. To be honest I could not find any faults with this CD whatsoever, but my favourite tracks are 'Don't Look Know', 'Sloth' and 'Crossing Over'.

This CD is released by DOMO records inc. 245 S. Spalding Dr., Suite 105, CA 90212.
