Re: Initiation Rhea's Obsession |

Originally released back in '96, their debut packs an emotional wallop for fans of world music and new age spiritualism alike. Featuring the soothing and passionate vocals of Sue Hutton, and instrumental ensemble assumed by Jim Field, the two make beautiful music together indeed, along with the able assistance of a number of studio musicians and the overall use of a variety of worldwide instrumentation to the standard equipment. Early on a number of songs, "Momento Mori," "Waves," "Cun Latoudhir," are personified by assertive tribal drum beats and billowing chants that provide an upbeat posterior in nearly folk-like precision before daunting off in the distance with a soulful mystique and quiet time of later movements complimented by string and light percussive effects. The Mudra Mixes which arrive later on the disc feature six extra bonus tracks that should reveal the more ceremonious effects of their talents by increasing the elemental effects of that which preceded them and wholly surrounds them with a grace and elegance unique to this windswept world they've enveloped themselves in. Definitely an album ahead of its time and one that needs to be experienced over and again to truly gain the full effects. Released by Metropolis Records Review by Vinnie Apicella
