Redjy Emond is a muti-instrumentalist from Montreal, Canada.
He spent two years composing, programming, financing and producing his debut album "SPHERE". His influences range from Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson in progressive rock, to John Sebastian Bach and Moussorgsky in classical music and Tomita, the Japanese composer of electronic music.

The album opens with 'Intro FX' a short track full of spacey/atmospheric sounds and you can also hear the sound of a person walking.

The next track is 'Impact', this track is very much in the vein of ELP. Classical inspired with superb multiple keyboard passages. Although the drumming has been programmed it sounds very good on this track. A great track to start the whole thing off.

The third track is 'Mistral', this track starts off with the sound of the howling wind then a piano is introduced, this is superb, quite a emotional composition which gradually builds up with other instuments coming in, there's a fairly strong drum beat, some nice bass and then the synths come in. There are a lot of changes in direction, mood and tempo throughout this track. But the keyboards are just first class.

The next track is 'March 1', is a a classical inspired track played on piano. Again this is a track that carries a lot of emotion, theres a lot of feeling of sadness in this short piece, but is still very pleasant to listen too.

'Periodos', this track features a driving bass, synthesized choir voices, and multiple keyboards sequences. This is a fairly upbeat track with a swift and very stylish keyboard solo. Once again this track shows a lot of classical inspiration. There are also some nice changes in direction, mood and tempo.

The sixth track is 'Civitas (Part 1)' is another track that shows in some ways a classical inspiration and in others a medieval inspiration and in some parts theres a Rick Wakeman influence. Theres is also some excellent bass. There are many changes in direction, mood and tempo and towards the end of the track the style changes to more like Keith Emerson.

The next track 'Civitas (Part 2)' is a short piece starting on piano and then towards the end other instruments join in. And for me is another track showing aquite abit of Keith Emerson influence.

'Impression', a strange track that starts with a fairly haunting melody, that I can only describe is done in ragtime fashion. then enters a heavy bass and drum sound and some spacey keyboards and then there are many changes in direction, mood and tempo throughout this track. Considering this track is only just over 4 minutes in length, theres a lot been crammed into it. Also incorporates a slight jazz influence here and there and more classical inspiartion too.

The ninth track is 'Sphere (Part 1)', starts off with a eerie sequence, then becomes a bit more disjointed, lots of changes in direction within a short time, until settling down to a more symphonic sound. But again becomes a bit more disjointed near the end.

The next track 'March 2', is a short composition lasting just over one minute, but has some very nice sounds to it. Quite symphonic and very pleasant.

The next track is 'Ancestral (Suite)'
a) 'Evocation', this track has quite a medieval feeling to it, or at least at the start off the track with harpsichord sounding keyboard although there are some other keyboard sounds going on at the same time. Later flows into a more symphonic sound. There are many keyboard sounds going on here and many changes in direction, mood and tempo. Another very pleasant composition.

b) 'Epopee', there are similarities to the first track, but the tempo of this track is quite fast, at times the sound becomes quite orchestral. Once again this track contains multiple keyboard sound, but they blend together perfectly.

c) 'Celebration', this track starts off with a harpsichord sounding keyboard, again this has a medieval quality about it, but then the tempo changes and other keyboard sounds are introduced from choir like voices to a more symphonis sound. The tempo is quick fast, but flows very nicely from start to finish.

d) 'Epilogue', the final part to thee 'Ancestral Suite', and begins with a fanfare type sound, not quite full blown, but to me has that sound that remind me of medieval times, the knights, the battles, the castles, the maidens, etc, etc, middle section is slightly different with some spacey sounds coming in, but finishes off going back to the former.

The final track is 'Sphere (Part 2)', a track showing many different influences from Emerson, Wakeman, Jarre, combined with classical and medieval, and all flowing together very nicely and rounding the whole album off showing what an excellent keyboard player, musician and songwriter/composer Redgy is.

Well, this is an album for all you keyboard enthusiasts, lovers out there. Whether you like Emerson, Wakeman, Jarre or any other keyboard player, theres something on this album for you. And that is good compostions by a very talented guy, Redjy obviously has listened to the keyboard greats and incorporated some of the sounds he liked listening to, into his own style and this shines throughout the album.

O.K. you will hear glimpses of the obvious influences, but does this matter, not in my book especially when the compositions are as good as the ones on this album. I am not going to pick out any favouries because, for me, they are all good and this is one album all you keyboard lovers should not ne without.
Contact Redjy right now and get your copy, you won't regret it, I promise you.

Another release is planned for 1999.
