For those of you who remember "Stoner Rockers" - Kyuss, will instantly recourse the names Josh Homme, Alfredo Hernandez and Nick Oliver, Kyuss were a true bands band and toured with the likes of Metallica, Soundgarden, White Zombie and Faith No More and ultimately reached legendary level internationally after their demise.

Now like a pheonix from the flames comes the new band Queens Of The Stone Age. Well alright then what makes Queens so special. Well, for a start Josh Homme takes oer on vocals and the result is almost remarkable adding a more positive edge to the songs, add to this some excellent arrangements, intelligent lyrics and the now classic Black Sabbath/grunge soiled low end rumble giving this album a real heavy feel and it becomes plain that Queens are a natural more positive move forward from Kyuss.

I challenge anyone not to fall under the spell of the infectious grooves of the opener 'Regular John' or the superb riffing to be found on 'Avon' or indeed the ultra heavy feel of 'Walkin On The Sidewalk'.

But its the latter half of this album that Queens really begins to impress, 'Hispanic Impressions', the albums one and only instrumental has a real marching band style rhythm to it and you can just imagine a bunch of pot-smoking hippies marching round in circles in the middle of nowhere to this constant beat. 'You Can't Quit Me Baby' has a thumping bass line intro and is so laid back all I can say about this is "keep smokin it guys", oh and by the way you simply can't miss the tongue in cheek humour of the albums final track 'I Was A Teenage Hand Model'.
