The Immaculate Lie

Pyramid

Pyramid soooooo want to be Dream Theater.

They're not, but on the other hand I like Dream Theater and they do give it a fair go, so the CD isn't without merit.

Over extended guitar riffs, weird time signatures, theatrical vocals, all the trademarks of a '90s progressive band are here.

Unfortunately there's little to really distinguishPyramid and give them significance in their own right. They're technically accomplished, and have the levels of skill demanded by this style, but ultimately they do fail to find their own voice.

There are few surprises here, but few bands are producing this kind of material, so if you can't wait for Metropolis part III, The Immaculate Lie might just tide you over.
