REALM OF THE DEAD PURGATION |

Purgation are: Tracklisting: Here we have afour track EP which on the first listen doesn't seem so bad, 'Watching The World Die' opens this up and in places it's very Pearl Jam. Not a bad thing as it's quite a good track. Track 2, 'Eulogy' is a mid-paced number that builds quite nicely with some neat playing and strong vocal performance. 'Slumber' begins with a huge riff and then slows down for the vocal delivery to come in, The title track 'Realm Of The Dead' on the other hand is a different matter altogether, opening once again with the huge riff then breaking into a gallop, the timings on this particular track are not quite as good as on the previous tracks, but their persistence is commendable. Twisting and turning here and there, speeding up, then slowing down once again. Good stuff! Perhaps the only thing that lets down 'Purgation' is the flat production, I'm sure that in time with money to spend on decent production that the true potential of this band will come out. Being a new listener to 'Purgation' I'm not familiar with anything they may have already done but with what I have heard they have the potential to go all the way.
