Tracklisting: Universe is the debut album by ex-Dream Theater keyboard maestro Derek Sherinian's new instrumental band Planet X. Sherinian is joines by guitar vituoso Tony Macalpine and Australian drumming sensation Virgil Donati on hwat Sheriian himself descries as the ultimate combination of virtuosity and pomposity. All three musicians are wellknown in their respective fields and decided to join forces to create a sound thats both modern and timeless. Although probbably best known for his work with Dream Theater, not to metion his work with Platypus, Sherinian has also played with such greats as Kiss and Alice Cooper, who once affectionately reffered to him as "the caligula of the keyboards ". Tony Macalpine has had an established solo career for the past 15 years and has released some 11 solo albums under his name. Virgil Donati made his name as a session drummer back in Oz, before venturing out to LA and playing with Brandford Marsalis and Scott Henderson's Tribal Tech. Universe is a impressive debut album to say the least that showcases intricate progressive rock/fusion while embellishing it with the ultimate in rock showmanship.
