Overlife, a progressive metal band from Spain, formed in Alicante in 1993 by Javier Martinez and Faricio Carlotta, who had previously been together in other bands. A little while later Javier Marco joined them and with this base they started reheasing and in the autumn found a bass player named Dani. By March '94 the band was complete when singer Sergio joined them.

In Sept that same year they recorded 'Ideales Muertos' (Dead Deals) demo and although it was recorded with great illusion, the final result didn't get to catch the bands worth.

Sometime later Dani & Sergio left the band, but luckliy Leandro Martinez joined Overlife. At last they had found a singer who fitted in perfectly. Leandro having a wide range of voice especially in the high tones and shortly afterwards the band was finally completed with the arrival of Roberto Bonus on Bass and Sergio Sanchez on Keyboards.

In January '97 with the now solid line-up they decided to make a professional recording, but in short the band left the studio fully dissapointed with both sound and production. In Sept '97, they started a new recording, a definitine one, the album 'Between Passion & Madness', which is only the beginning of a long musical journey.

Between Passion & Madness contains seven tracks lasting some 42 mins 43 secs. The first track 'Prologue (Between Passion & Madness)' only lasts some 27 secs and is a paino/keyboard intro to 'Victims Of The Holocaust', a symphonic power/progressive piece with powerful and emotional vocals. This is quite an uptempo track with a strong melody, nice changes in direction, mood and tempo and some superb guitar work.

The next track is 'The Neverending Story', this track starts with some fine percussion, keyboards and guitar and them gradually builds up and raises the tempo. Theres a really nice heavy bass sound and aonce again powerful vocals.

Track three 'My Last Song' is more mellow with some nice keyboards and acoustic guitar. Vocals are a lot softer too. This track also shows a classical/ medieval influence.

The next track 'The Last Martyr' is a powerful track with some stunning guitar work, great keybaords and powerful, passionate vocals. Many changes in direction, mood and tempo.

'The Promised Song', another short track at just under two minutes with some nice piano and keyboards, it's fairly mellow with softer vocals and there are some spoken words too.

The sixth track is 'Dark Side', a classical inspired piece with some fine acoustic and electric guitar entwined with power hungry riffs with another powerful and passionate vocal delivery.

The final track 'Epilogue' closes the album with some nice piano and some spoken words.

Between Passion & Madness is a very powerful and passionate debut album from Overlife.
Well worth a listen!!
