Dead is a 16-track live album recorded in Boston in September of last year. And this album showcases Obituary at their very best. Unlike a lot of live albums, the quality of the recording is first class allowing the music to take centre stage. Each song jumps jumps out from the speakers giving the listener the feeling of being there.

Although Dead is an impressive package as a whole, there are some stand out moments to be had, like the guitar work on 'Final Thoughts' is first class. 'Slowly We Rot' with it's slow melodic beginning to it's final frantic conclusion is a fine way to end proseedings, while inbetween 'Chopped In Half' features some fine drums work and for sheer power check out 'Threatening Skies' or how about 'Cause of Death' or even 'Don't Care'.

On the bottom right of the inner sleeve reads "Death Metal Will Never Die" and on this showing you can't help but agree with them.
Obituary have been around for quite sometime now and deserve a lot more respect than they currently receive, so while your adding Dead to your collection why not check out some of their back catalogue as well. There's some fine music to be had take my word for it.
But as a live album, things don't come much better than this.
