"Givin' it All," Jersey's own Norway has arrived… all the way from the shores of, Jersey. For some reason they sound Norwegian… or maybe Dutch or something-there's a definite classiness within the ranks of what is otherwise not the fanciest of music but rather female friendly hook-heavy hard rock modeled after many of your 80's faves-ironically, as much as it would be simple to point them in the direction of early Bon Jovi, Danger Danger or even Survivor, they remind me a lot of this late 80's obscurity called Aviator now that the second song, "One Night Alone's" tip-toed onto the scene here… well here's to hoping they don't meet with the same fate! The team of Pierson and Santos lay down the melodies and charming choruses with the best of the rest and no matter how different they try to be or how persistent biased followers might try to be, there'll always be something or someone from somewhere to nod to… Bonfire, Shy… get the picture? Glenn Pierson does add a certain distinction on vocals however and so try as I might to compare him with someone else the closest I've come is Richard Marx… and I'll admit that's pushing it. But there's nothing wrong with the sound-fifteen years ago you could've said it was geared toward the female-dominant pop/metal crowd and no one would argue… well today it still is though it's undeniable more and more fans from each side are recognizing talent and quality music when they hear it… amazing how things turn about when they've gone away for any length of time. "Someday, "Someway" is pretty forgettable and I'll guarantee if and when they do a tour, that one won't make the list. "I Don't Wanna Love You" has a potency within its powerful anthemic presence and three chord dictation that stamps out the preceding few while "Can't Live Without You" sounds like an old Bon Jovi throwaway. "When you Close Your Eyes" has this Night Ranger meets John Waite blend that really takes you back… and then "Cry Baby" is probably one of the hardest rocking of the bunch-guitar led in its aim to be the next XYZ hit! And how long's it been for them anyway? "Arrival's" not a bad slice of heavy rock's once MTV friendly past and it's G-rated subject matter and professional approach should make for great contact with the AOR crowd.
