Shadowlands (Outro) After their unexpected success of their debut album, 'The Awakening', this Swedish 5 piece unleash there much anticipated second full-length offering and the good news for all those who have already hold 'The Awakening' with such high regard is 'Long Live The King' starts where 'The Awakening' left off, except for a more matured element, noticeable in both song writing and the playing department. Narnia spent most of last year touring the continent winning themselves numerous fans and a support slot with Dio was particularly successful, selling out venue after venue and sparkling off a melodic renaissance across Europe. And listening to 'Long Live The King' which is simply bursting with powerful melodies, catchy hooks, first class songs and drop dead rhythms, it's quite clear that all the praise that's being heaped upon theses five Swedes is more than justified. The 'Gates Of Cair Paravel' opens the album, thumping drums mixed with classical orchestration and a short but very effective guitar solo leave the listener in no doubt that this is true power metal, 'Living Water' contains some fine guitar/ keyboard interchanges and by the time the more melodic 'Shelter Through The Pain' fades out, you soon realise it's time once more to light those cigarette lighters and hold them high in the air. Narnia are clearly a band who aren't prepared to let the grass grow under their feet and hopefully with the interest in power metal gathering pace, these 5 Swedes will gain the international acclaim that they so richly deserve. Released on Nuclear Blast, Hauptstrasse 109. 73 072, Donzdorf. Germany Website : http://www.nuclearblast.de Email: death@nuclearblast.de |
