: Garry Lewin : Analogue Keyboards, Big Drum (2,4) Steve Palmer : Keyboards, Samples & Programming, Deraboukah, Been, Tambourine Phil Watson : Analogue Keyboard (2,4) Pete Wyer : Guitar (1,3) The tracks are : 1. Ocean Of Mercury 2. Insearch Of Homo Sapiens Psychedelicus 3. Acid Drenched Symphony 4. Vastscape The opening track is 'Ocean Of Mercury'; this is music for the imaginative. Spacey synth sounds swirling around you taking you off to some far distant place. If you go by the title, yes, you could imagine yourself travelling through the Ocean Of Mercury or any ocean, but Mercury will do just fine. At first there's a feeling of just gliding through the water, exploring, and a feeling of happiness. But it's not long before you sense danger with a capital D and it looms ahead. Now there's a feeling of being very frightened and you have to fight for survival, but you're strong and you fight and eventually you overcome the danger. Now there's a feeling of exhilaration and you quickly move away to a place. Ah, yes, this is the place you were looking for, and there's something here that you want and you begin to search for it, it takes quite a time, but you find it and then it's time to head for home, and this seems to take an eternity, but you do make it. The next track is 'In Search Of Homo Sapiens Psychedelicus', even though this tracks follows in a similar vein to the previous track, spacey, trippy, psychedelic synth sounds, it's much mellower in comparison. Once again, as the title suggests, there was for me a feeling as though one was searching for something, but never finding it and to be honest I still had the same feeling at the end of the track. The third track 'Acid Drenched Symphony', well, how do you interpret this one? Could it be that it's raining acid rain and your drenched or that your so high on acid, and this is your ultimate psychedelic sound experience or maybe the sounds that have been created make you feel like you're tripping' anyway? Nevertheless, the sounds that have been created are dramatic, intense and atmospheric with some stunning guitar and keyboards. The final track is 'Vastscape', the textured sounds of this track give me a feeling of being in a large open space, but at the same time there is a lot of natural beauty around, flowers, animals, etc, and everything is in harmony with one another. A lovely feeling of inner peace. Well, these are just my thoughts, when I was listening to this album; all you need is a little bit of imagination. I am sure you could get a different interpretation each time you listen to 'In Search Of The Acid Metal Grille' and I am positive your interpretation will be different from mine. If you like bands such as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, etc then I am sure you will enjoy Mooch. Highly Recommended! Released by Dead Earnest (DERNCD 33) Contact: Andy G, P.O.
