Moke

I've seen enough Black Crowes meets R.A.T.M. comparisons for this band already… and while I won't dismiss the popular idea entirely, I think there's a much more rootsy feel to this as opposed to all out war angst and Southern charm.

True Moke hails from Southern England, the relevance of which escapes me though it must hold some esteem, but they don't do Punk, and throw the Brit-Pop theory out the window.

They're an amalgamative style to be sure, classic Rock with Foreigner-like acoustics and Miller/BTO organics rolled with Soul, slightly Bluesy, with a modern Alternative feel to it-how bout this comparison The Beatles meets Tesla meets Kent's "Isola…" or how bout just Cyclefly?

We could go on hopping the tour bus from decade to decade but safely assume that anything guitar-based and Rock-oriented spanning the '60s to the '90s takes some space somewhere in the collective musical minds from the onset of their career as Moke four years prior.

"My Degeneration" is an antithetical draw at the classic Who tune for starters, and "Hanging Around," pure guitar-Rock with an Alternative twinge and Funky-rumblings while "Slide," and "Today" lighten the load momentarily, folksy where the funk left off, harmonious and particularly with the latter, the next Goo Goo Dolls hit with a little luck.

Moke follows a well-worn Rock star path from yesterday with a simple approach, dignified character and late model groove.
