"Proclaiming Vengeance" Mental Horror |

In following a period of split CD's, membership splits, split skulls and other various forms of atrocity both in and out of their control. "Proclaiming Vengeance" is the debuting end result for Brazil's brutal state of the art extremists. State of the art in that beyond the hail storm of bullet-like scales, thunderous percussion, and skin peeling production, there's a technical precision-barely audible at times-that lie beneath the surface making for an intriguing listening experience provided you survive the initial onslaught. "Genocidal Inquisition" serves a perfect example, bludgeoning continuously, it's seven plus minute assault requires not only patient determination but a full appreciation of the extensive musical stamina that goes into this hazardous of art forms. And within the limiting Death Metal confines, there are few that play with the heart and punishing determination so as to stay within its stout tradition, and Mental Horror is undoubtedly among those few. Unfortunately lyrics are not included so for those so inclined to pull a word or two from the text, I wish you good luck. Not that titles like "Black Spiritual Void," or "Tortured (Bleeding For The Plague)" don't provide enough insight into the brutality behind the scenes, but something to follow along to would make for a welcome diversion while awaiting the oncoming dementia-mental horror giving rise to mental cruelty-fear not death will come quickly. Cannibal Corpse, a benchmark for which many of today's aggressive Metal extremists evolve from, was and remains as severe as any; Mental Horror appears set on searing their own mark on the underworld with a faster, bleaker and deadlier expulsion of venom than most.
