A Strange Traffic of Dreams
MAGELLAN

Magellan is : Per Jensen on Vocals, Bass, Guitar and Programming, Amariah Hession on Keyboards and Programming and Aaa Marrz on Vocals, Guitar and Bass.

With Derek Story on Vocals and Rhythm Guitar, The Ig on Lead Guitar and Ellis Dee on Drums and Programming.

The tracks are : 'Sound Is Your Dream', 'B 17', 'If Only I Could', 'Complex Waves In Synergy', 'Long Long Ride', 'You Mean More To Me', 'New World Order', 'Fung & Chunky', 'Just Along For The Ride', 'I Wish I Could Start Again', 'Mysterious Signals', 'Funkit', 'One Of These Days', 'Yes, Mildred (There Was Life On Mars)', 'Reflections'.

The opening track is 'Sound Is Your Dream', great track which starts with quite a lot of sound effects before going into a mellow song. The vocals are soft and dreamy and the guitar sound is distorted. Reminds me a bit of early Pink Floyd.

Next is 'B 17', starting with aircraft, bombing, flak sounds, the drums then come in very strongly and stay as the main feature for the rest of the track. The vocals are soft and there's quite a bit of intricate guitar patterns being played in the background.

Track three is 'If Only I Could', is an excellent track and a song very much in the vein of John Lennon, the type of music he was playing before his death.

'Complex Waves In Synergy', is more of a soundscape or could be a film soundtrack, although I would say this is more aimed at the nightmare side of a dream. The sounds that come over are very haunting.

'Long Long Ride', great track has a strong drum beat, a slight funky rhythm and distorted lead guitar and a very catchy melody. Great Vocals.

Track six is 'You Mean More To Me', which is a love song, again the vocals are quite soft and it has a very catchy melody.

'New World Order', has a catchy melody and a distorted guitar sound.

'Fung & Chunky', is a great instrumental with a strong drum sound and echoey type keys.

Track nine is 'Just Along For The Ride',which
is which is a very good blues track.

'I Wish I Could Start Again', which is a great track starting with acoustic guitars, great vocals, remind me of a Genesis track.

Next is 'Mysterious Signals', more sound effects, Sound you might expect from aliens trying to communicate ?

'Funkit', as you would expect from the title is a funky little number.

'One Of These Days', is a nice mellow track with soft vocals.

'Yes Mildred (There Was Life On Mars)' is a superb instrumental with some great distorted guitar.

And finally 'Reflection', a great track another instrumental with acoustic guitars and you can hear birds singing in the background.

A Strange Traffic Of Dreams is Magellan's 27th release, the band have been together for more than 20 years and their influences range from The Beatles, Pink Floyd and The Moody Blues and that is evident when you hear this album.

The tracks on this album have a kind of Alan Parson feel to them and Magellan cover a range of song styles, blues, ballads, rock'n'roll, progressive rock with a 70's feel to them.

I really like this album aand it comes highly recommended.
