After The Rain (Destiny, Part IV) Knell Odyssey are a Spanish heavy metal band. In 1991 Ricardo Moreno and J.A. Clemento thought about forming a heavy metal band. But it wasn't until 1994, that they formed a project called Knell, which later became Knell Odyssey. In 1994 they recorded their first demo 'Gates Of Reality' with the help of two members of Thrasfusion and Pacho Brea on Vocals. The demo sold out and the band obtained a great response from the critics, media and the public who gave them exceptional response at their gigs, making Knell Odyssey one of the revolutionary bands of 1995. Then J.A. Clemente and Cris left the band, Ricardo and Alberto kept on composing and contacted Rafael Diaz (Drums), Juan Pablo Mingo (Bass) and Antonio M. Sepulveda (Guitars). At last Knell Odyssey had a stable formation and they recorded their first album in Sept 1997. Knell Odyssey's music is heavy metal, but the songs are very melodic, I would even go as far to say that at times it een sounds symphonic with a slight classical influence. It took me quite a while to get into this album and that is because Alberto's vocals are fairly high pitched. But Alberto has a very powerful voice and after a few listens it's quite easy to become hooked. The musicianship is superb throughout, but for me the two guitarists Antonio and Ricardo reign supreme. They both work extremely well and hard for each other. There are some nice keyboards which add a lot of depth to the bands sound and this gives it more of a symphonic feel. Not forgetting the bass and drums, who are more than competant, rounding the whole thing off and making Knell Odyssey a really tight unit indeed. My favourite tracks from the album include 'Ethereal', 'Invisible Horizons', which has a very catchy tune and chorus. 'Blind' and 'After The Rain (Destiny, Part IV)'. Try this out if you like good melodic heavy rock music. Released by Goldtrack Records. P.O.Box 37062. 28080 Madrid. Spain. Tel : +341 669 40 45 Fax : +341 669 40 45 |
