Everyone, who remembers the Swedish political progressive rock that invaded Sweden in the 70's, will probably remember Jan Hammarlund as well. Jan's albums were among the most important in that movement that nowadays is almost forgotten.

Although this music was called progressive rock in Sweden, it has very little to do with the genre we today are calling progressive rock.

Many bands back then such as Samla Mammas Manna were truly musically progressive, while the most part such as Gunder Hägg, Hoola Bandoola Band, Nationalteatern and Turid were what we could call lyrically progressive.

They sang about liberalism, communism, solidarity etc., often with a Folky touch.

Jan's albums can be filed under this latter description. Jan Hammarlund is still singing the same kind of songs he did back then. The lyrics are about the working class, homosexuality, anarchy, Nazism and racism and much more.

When the lyrics have lost importance in the mainstream music nowadays, albums such as this may be more important today.
