Hypocrisy Destroys Wacken
HYPOCRISY

The sounds of impending doom… and then, everything goes black!

After hearing these guys for the first time, I can’t wait to actually see them live. But I guess I can scrap my plans to attend the Wacken Open Air Festival later this year considering how the band destroyed it and all.

Having developed quite a loyal following over the years, this, Hypocrisy’s eighth album, captures all of their pounding metal aggression live from the aforementioned festival that took place late last year. Hailing from Sweden, this is a band that’s mastered the art of death metal/grind-core and brought it up to new heights that few are beginning to realize. In a market where it seems any death song that doesn’t sound exactly like the next is enough to earn a band accolades, the case could also be made for Hypocrisy’s talent as serious players who create deafeningly loud yet technically proficient songs.

Scanning down the set list here, all of the early classics will be addressed within the eleven song performance—“Roswell 47,” the drowning drone of “Apocalypse,” “Osculum Obscenum,” and “The Final Chapter,” taken from their most recent studio work, where the evening for them concludes.

“Hypocrisy Destroys Wacken” also features four extra studio tracks that’ll leave you creeping down on the floor in search of your sanity!

Hey, nobody forced you to listen!

The first and last of the four, “Time Warp” and “Beginning of the End” encompass sheer velocity in their delivery with the latter ringing the imagination with thoughts of classic Slayer. “Fuck U,” sandwiched in between—maybe that didn’t come out right—will be a fan favorite soon enough and captures the band in an aggressive hard core posture as only befitting of a view that follows:

“Fuck you I don’t give a fuck / fuck the system cause the system sucks!”

If you can’t get out to one of those Wacken Festivals in Europe, then consider bringing a piece of it over to you and pick up Hypocrisy’s new live recording right away as they’re one band that’ll really make a heavy impact. They’ll shake your foundations and shatter your faith faster than you can drop to your knees and beg for salvation!

Hypocrisy
HYPOCRISY

One of the most widely respected bands ever to make a presence, defy their own odds set against themselves with their latest extraordinary work, simply self-titled, signifying something of a new start for this talented Swedish act as well as lighting a new path for their own established tradition.

Convinced to stick around longer than they had prepared themselves in the past, the stage for Hypocrisy's return was set with the release of the incredible live release, "Hypocrisy Destroys Wacken," culminating with a recent tour that included a rare trip to the states where they were met with overwhelming response. Peter Tagtren, master producer and elite song-writing talent, leads the recharged trio through what previously was uncharted territory of new material that envelopes a futuristic sound concept consistent with the science fiction theme originally intended.

Imagine the difference between the newest material from fellow metal innovators, Voivod, to that of their earliest work-it's similarly equal to what we've gotten now with Hypocrisy. The songs, taking on a less faster magnitude, maintain the heavy consistency always produced, only opting to now take the music in a more majestic, mid-tempo direction, exhibiting a class and dignity that will intrigue anyone, and impress everyone.
