Criminal Afterlife

HOLY MOTHER

This CD on the first play gives to me a very Judas Priest 'Painkiller' feel to it. i think Holy Mother could be heavily influenced by the aging Metal Gods, if not perhaps, trying to be them, not that that would or should be a problem.

The CD opens with 'The Rage', not a bad track, catchy in places. 'Criminal Afterlife' with its 'Painkiller' style guitar/drumwork comes across very well. maybe even the best track on the disc.

Next we're faced with a difficult one, a cover of Dio's might 'Holy Diver', I'm not sure if they're taking the piss or if its mean't to be intentionally shite, but it just doesn't work.

I am sorry that I've gone from praise to criticism, but this disc goes from one track to the next to no time. Three quarters of it seems to me that they got bored and lacked incentive to carry on with the promising way they started.

In My War

HOLY MOTHER

Holy Mother are:
Mike Tirreli - Vocals
Jim Harris - Drums
John Bivona - Guitars
Randy Coven - Bass

Holy Mother gives us a nice blend of early '80's metal with some very noticable influences. We have Ted Nugent, Judas Priest and a few others.

This CD opens with 'Livin On Luck', not a bad track. In some places I get the feeling Mike is trying to imitate Nugent in some ways.

'Freakshow' is next, a fast paced Judas Priest style track. True Metal!! I can't praise this enough really, Good stuff from all concerned, well played, and well produced.

The third track 'The Itch' is one of those annoying tracks that you hear on the radio, just before you leave for work/school etc and the bastards stuck with all day!

'My World War' is just a fist thumping, foot tapping, head bangin mutha of a track.

All in all, what I'm trying to say is I'm impressed with Holy Mother's approach and hope they do very well. Look out for their killer cover of Billy Idol's 'Rebel Yell'.
