Happy Family is a Japanese
instrumental quartet from Tokyo. They describe their music as chamber
jazz-rock driven by hard rocks fast and heavy rhythms, Toscco
is their second release.
Happy Family is KenIchi Morimoto on Keyboards, Takahiro
Izutani on Guitars, Tatsuya Miyano on Fretless Bass and
KeiIchi Nagase on Drums.
The tracks are :
'The Great Man',
'Overdrive Locomotive',
'Nord Company vs. Lead Company',
'Filial Piety At The Dawn',
'The Sushi Bar (with bad face, bad manners, and bad taste)',
'He Is Coming At Tokyo Station',
'The Picture Book - X Rated',
'The Three Leaves Insect',
'The Great Man (revisited)'.
Normally, I wouldn't even consider listening to a Japanese experimental
group, but I'm glad that I approached this CD with an open mind!.
Not one track on this CD is even closely similar to anything I have
heard before. The good thing about this CD is that every song is unpredictable,
meaning that as soon as you get used to the current theme, it explodes
off in a different direction, leaving the listener totally baffled
and gobsmacked!!.
If you enjoyed 'New Forms by Roni Size + Reprazent' (1997 Mercury
Music Prize Winners) then you will absolutely love this. It's not
in the same genre, but it's certainly groundbreaking stuff.
