Live 1972 GNIDROLOG |
|
Gnidrolog are: Track Listing: This album from the nowadays re-united Gnidrolog contains a live performance, recorded in Birmingham on the 10th of July 1972 from the band's original mixing desk masters. I have heard a lot about Gnidrolog, but haven't had the chance to hear them until now. They did two classic albums in the 70's: "Lady Lake" and "In Spite Of Harry's Toenail". Their music is a mixture of Jazz-Rock and Progressive Rock with reminiscences to Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, TagYerit and Van Der Graaf Generator. The great musicians are also using quite unusual instruments such as Saxophone, Harmonica, Oboe, Cello, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, Soprano Sax and Flute. My favourite tracks are the opening "Any Use In Living", "I Could Never Be A Soldier", "Time And Space", "My Mother" and the closing bonus track "Sixpence For A Handstand". They've got a great sense of humour when they're talking to the audience between the songs. This is one of the most exciting releases in 1999 for everybody who loves genuine 70's progressive rock. Highly recommended! Released by Audio Archives (AACD 032) -Reviewed by Greger Rönnqvist Gnidrolog contact information: Gnidrolog Stewart Elliott Goldring
