Godseed

Godseed is :
John Brooks on Guitars and Backing Vocals
Joey Morasse on Drums and Backing Vocals
Vance Wright on Lead Vocals
Johnny Lane on Bass Guitar

In the fall of 1994, John Brooks and Joey Morasse began the tireless search for musicians that shared their vision. They soon assembled additional personnel, among them Johnny Lane, and Voodoo Sky was born.

The band began playing local hotspots such as the Ace of Clubs, 527 Mainstreet, The Cannery and other regional nightclubs quickly garnering a strong following and critical praise from peers and fans based on their scorching live performances. But something was missing.

With the arrival of their new singer; Vance Wright in June of 1996, the missing piece was found and the musical puzzle was completed. The band would keep the name Voodoo Sky for another year, but Godseed was born.

With renewed intensity the band began writing new material, revamping and improving older material and elevating their status as one of the best live acts in the area. With Wright's unique vision leading the way, the bands strong performances att area clubs earned them a prime spot on the Rhythm N Racin' music festival held during Speed Week at Talladega Motor Speesway.

In October, the band played Starwood Amphitheater as the opening act for one of the sumer's biggest tours, the OzzFest, bands on the bill included Ozzy Osbourne, Danzig, Sepultura and Biohazard.

In mid-1997, the band realizing that they simply were not the same unit that were in 1996, decided to change their name to Godseed, just before the December release of their independent debut CD, 'Bruised'. Since that time the band has continued to write new material and are currently playing shows at various venues in support of the release.

The tracks are :
1. Shove Somebody
2. Bruised
3. Shedding My Skin
4. Benign
5. Distorted
6. Speak To Me
7. Live The Lie
8. Take Off
9. 1,000 Eyes
10. I, Why?

There is a very fine line as what could be described as Hard Rock and Heavy Metal. Godseed described themselves as an original Hard Rock band, I would be more inclined to say that Godseed are a Heavy Metal Band with some original idea's.

Godseed's sound is very heavy, aggressive, powerful Metal. There are 10 tracks on this album dated '95 and '96 and lasting nearly 48 minutes. There is also a hidden track as when track 10 finishes, if you leave the CD playing after one minute, you will find another track.

The quality of the CD and Musicianship is superb with a good heavy bass sound throughout with some superb bass lines. The drum sound is very solid. John plays some amazing riff's, some of which are I can only describe as angry riff's. Although I did feel that some of the tracks did have a slight bluesy feel to them. The vocals from Vance are dark, but very powerful, sometimes a little distorted.

To be honest , I found all of the tracks to be superb and this is one CD I will be playing a lot over the next few months, Go OUT and BUY!!!
