The Other Side (6:22) 10. Visions From An Ancient Time (6:48) Fierce Conviction are a melodic thrash band. The first track 'In Your Mind' is fast and heavy with grinding guitars and a heavy bass line. The vocals from Jose are powerful but have a melodic quality about them. The next track 'In The Cellar' is another fast and heavy track. Jose vovals remind me a little of Rob Halford when he was with Judas priest. This track has a great rhythm and some siperb guitar nead breaks. The third track 'Confusion' is slightly slower or at least the start is. It changes pace just before the vocals come in. This track also has a great rhythm and great guitar work. Tempo does change quite a bit. The next track is called 'The Ballad of Tinuviel' and as you can guess from the title, this is a ballad, but this ballad has a strong medieval influence about it. There's some superb acoustic guitar work and some wonderful vocals from Jose and Jenny. Next comes 'The Gypsy King' which starts with some heavy guitars with stop/start riffs, there are moments when an acoustic guitar is also playing. In my opinion this has flashes of progressive metal in it. There's also quite a catchy chorus. Stunning guitar solo<.BR> The sixth track is 'Time', this track also show Fierce Conviction moving towards a more progressive style. It's quite a heavy track with the guitars sounding more melodic with the vocals more melodic too. Great solo. The next track is '(Tell Me) Who Do you Think You Are', heavy guitars, stop/start riffs, powerful melodic vocals from Jose and backing vocals from the band. 'The Quest For Eternity' heavy riffs, strong drum sound, great guitar and vocals. This track changes mood, direction and tempo quite a few times and has some great backing vocals from the band/ The Ninth Track is 'The Other Side' and starts with some acoustic guitar, again this track has a slight medieval feeling to it. Short but nice solo, vocals on this first verse sound a little different. Then in comes the heavy guitars and strong drum sounds. Nice changes in direction, mood and tempo, superb guitar work, heavy and powerful and stunning lead breaks. The final track is 'Visions From An Ancient Time', this track starts off fairly quietly with some nice guitar. Vocals from Jose are quite powerful. Theres a superb riff and some nice changes in direction, mood and tempo. Nice combination between heavy riffs and intricate guitar. Overall, an excellent album and one I would highly recommend!!
