Annebübeli (bonus track) The opening track is 'Intro', which has a distinct Scottish feel to it. There's sounds of the bagpipes and drummers playing with some excellent guitar over the top. This leads into - The next track which is 'Houses Of Healing', this track has a fairly fast rhythm with some superb guitar. The drums have a good strong sound and Münngu vocals are powerful and melodic. This is quite a catchy tune and again there is a Scottish feel. The third track is 'Beneath The Hills', fast rhythm, great guitar, nice keyboards in the background adding depth to this track. Powerful vocals from Münngu. The next track 'Princess Of The Trees' is a quieter track with some nice guitar, some of the verses are spoken rather than sung. This is quite an emotional track with some nice keyboards. ' Anduin The River', starts with some nice classical inspired guitar. This is followed by a heavier guitar sound coming in over the top. Nice vocals. The sixth track is 'Maiden In Forbidden Garden', this track starts off with some nice melodic intricate guitar work, before in comes a heavier riff, a short but good solo which is then followed by the vocals. There's some nice keyboards and superb guitar work. Nice changes in direction, mood and tempo. The next track 'Mordor Speaks' starts with spacey sounding keyboards, nice intricate guitar work. Some of the verses are spoken. Again there's some excellent keyboard and guitar work. 'In The Highlands', This is a nice track and as you can guess from the title is about the Scottish Highlands. Soft mellow keyboards and nice vocals. The ninth track is 'Gwaihir - The Name Of A Bird', heavy, but melodic guitar, nice keyboards and quite a rocker. There's some nice changes in direction, mood and tempo. Later on in the track there's more superb guitar and keyboards. The next track is 'Back Into The Deepest Night', starting with some nice lead and intricate guitars, the track then settles down with a slight Russian feel to it. Nice vocals, guitar and keyboards. Nice changes in tempo. This leads into 'Outro' which is a bit confusing as according to my CD player there is no track 12. 'Outro' is just part of track 10 which carries the theme of 'Back Into The Deepest Night ' on with some nice acoustic guitar. The last track 'Annabübeli' is a nice fast rock'n'roll track. Well, I think this is a great debut album from Excelsis. I think the production could have been a bit better, but it doesn't distract too much. Can't wait for the follow-up, and I have already been informed that is about to be released soon!! Self -released please contact Excelsis Management, c/o Fiat, Po.o.Box 163. CH-3425. Koppigen. |
